Open Source bounty to improve FAR support with Putty/WinSSHD

You want to talk about Far Manager, but don't know where to turn?

Open Source bounty to improve FAR support with Putty/WinSSHD

Post by zippy1981 »

I have started an open source bounty to implement the proprietary bvterm protocol that WinSSHD uses in putty.

http://www.fossfactory.org/project/p247

The only ssh client supporting this terminal protocol is Tunnelier, who also make WinSSHD. This protocol supports all the features of windows console. FarManager would operate better via a ssh connection with WinSSHD as the server and PuTTY as the client if this bounty was implemented.

Reason: Fixed an obvious misprint (“Putt” -> “PuTTY”)

If it finds its way into PuTTY, it will appear in Far through WinSCP.

IIUC, zippy1981 means running FAR within a SSH session, not the other way round.

Oh. That would be nice. But aren't there any non-proprietary protocols to do the same? Something like NX technology.
