This is one more thought to the often discussed translation problem of FAR. I don't know if this has been discussed before.
Everytime I came to the point where I have to translate a part of the documentation, helpfile or some other text, I ask myself: Wouldn't it be nice if that piece of translated text will be added to FAR-project. And as I think of all the other international FARuser who could do that, there would be at least an growing and good english translation. Also missing or wrong textpieces could be added or fixed.
Complete translations seem to be impossible because of the known reasons and ongoing changes in development. There should be a wiki or something more suitable, where the small pieces of translations could be overtaken in FAR-project.
Or is there already another way to put those small pieces of text in the coding process?
These are the main startpoints for translations where I like to help but don't know how:
FAR: *.lng, *.hlf
-> ???
FAR own Plugins: *.lng, *.hlf
-> ???
Encyclopedia: *.chm
-> ??? (wiki)
3rd party Plugins: *.lng, *.hlf
-> Mail to author. Or put to Discussion in (russian) Forum.

Language file: edit your local copy of http://farmanager.com/svn/trunk/unicode ... g.templ.m4 and attach the result (either as a patch or in full) right here.farman wrote:FAR: *.lng, *.hlf -> ???
Help file: download http://farmanager.com/svn/trunk/unicode ... Eng.hlf.m4, rename it to FarGer.hlf.m4 and start replace pieces of text in it. Attach the result here.
If some more experienced member of Far Group knows better ways, please tell.

Not necessary, you can just take any Far???.lng and translate it to your language.Shmuel wrote:Language file: edit your local copy of http://farmanager.com/svn/trunk/unicode ... g.templ.m4 and attach the result (either as a patch or in full) right here.farman wrote:FAR: *.lng, *.hlf -> ???

Re: FAR3: How to help translating?
To say it in different words:
For example: I translate today the russian part of "@InfoPanelSettings" in english help file. Next week it will be some russian part of "FarEncyclopedia.ru.chm". But I don't know how it can be integrated in FAR-project. I wish I could do that.
A lot of people translate every day small russian text pieces they need by themself. And a lot of people would like to suport FAR development, but fail because of language restrictions. So maybe if we take the internet power and use the small work of all the people around the world, this will help to overcome the language restrictions of FAR.
