far manager as IDE
i have seen some programmers doing all the coding, compiling and exectuing right within the Far manager itself.
Can anyone help me in letting me know how to do that? Like what are the required plugins and how to go through the process?
Thanks in advance.

True Template (FAR 1,2,3): code templates, compilation, navigation through errors.
Editor Word Completion (FAR 1,2,3).
FarDebug (FAR 2): GDB integration.

Re: far manager as IDE
i meant compiling and then running. I have a ".c" file. I want to compile that from within far manager and then get the output displayed.

There may be other plugins or macros.

Re: far manager as IDE
I myself do not use Far as IDE, so I can't, sorry.mymailid4reg wrote:can you guide me through that? sorry if am being too naive
In general I don't think it is a good idea (unless you are very proficient with Far, its plugins and macros).

Re: far manager as IDE
Open the file in editor, then F11 - True Template - Ext command - Compile release [GCC] (this should be bound to a macro for convenience).mymailid4reg wrote:Can you tell me how to go through the process of compiling and then editing?

Re: far manager as IDE
i did try that already. When i used Compile release [GCC], it had Compiler options set to "-W -Wall -pedantic" and link libraries set to "-lgdi32".
should i leave them unchanged? When i had those values, i was not getting the output. I gave a simple hello world program in c.The error i got was
"rm is not recognised as internal or external command". Should i make any changes to compiler options and link libraries?

Re: far manager as IDE
External commands menu is configured in true-source-c++.xml, see <Language File="*.c" ...> and <Language File="*.cpp,*.cc,*.c++" ...> sections. By default there is a command "rm -f =N.o" for cleaning object files after build. You could either use "del =N.o" instead or install MSYS.

Re: far manager as IDE
This can't be if you've replaced "rm -f" with "del", at least it would be some other error than "rm is not recognised".
