Backup of settings

Post by MortenMacFly »

I just transferred my settings from Far2 to Far3 which took some time - but I succeeded. Now I wonder if there is any possibility to backup these settings in a readable way other than the DB. In Far2 there was this script exporting the settings from the registry into plain text. Is there something like that for Far3, too?

Mostly by hand. There was a perl/python script somewhere but that didn't work well, because it left out most of the option I was interested in. So I had two Far (Far2/Far3) in parallel and walked through the settings... annoying but it was worth it - Far3 is so much improved.

Indeed, I would even expect the developers of Far 3 to provide a tool to migrate Far 2 settings as completely as possible. I changed so much in the last years of using Far 2, and was taken aback that I had to start over from the defaults.
