Doesn't save folder shortcuts
Doesn't save folder shortcuts
Far Manager v3.0 build 2761 x86
Windows XP SP3, Polish, admin rights
Doesn't store "folder shortcuts". Neither when settings are saved manually (Shift-F9) nor automatically (when
appropriate option is set). The other setings are stored correct, only "folder shortcuts" list is empty after
FAR restart. In previous (1.75) version all works normal.

Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
Here You are:
The same problem on 2-nd PC: Win 7/x64 Enterprise. On both I have Far 1.75 and 3.
If "shortcuts.db" is file with "folder shortcuts" - it looks to be untouched since first run
(looking at modification time).
I made another try:
1) create some shortcuts, they work and are on list (F9|Commands|Folder shortcuts)
2) rename "shortcuts.db" to "shortcuts.d"
3) save config (Shift-F9) - new "shortcuts.db" doesn't appear
4) quit Far 3.0
5) start Far, there is new "shortcuts.db", byte-to-byte identical to old one ("shortcuts.d"), and
folder shortcuts list is empty again.
I checked for another copy of "shortcuts.db" in "Documents and Settings" - none found.
Code: Select all
09.07.12 23:00 1 024 history.db
09.07.12 23:08 32 768 history.db-shm
09.07.12 23:08 219 064 history.db-wal
09.07.12 23:00 1 024 plugincache.db
09.07.12 23:08 32 768 plugincache.db-shm
09.07.12 23:08 461 152 plugincache.db-wal
09.07.12 23:00 7 168 shortcuts.db
7 files 754 968 bytes

Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
lets try with clean configuration...
1) download latest far3 build archive http://www.farmanager.com/nightly/Far30 ... 0120710.7z
2) unpack it into new directory
3) create far.exe.ini (near far.exe)
4) try to start far and play with shortcuts
1) download latest far3 build archive http://www.farmanager.com/nightly/Far30 ... 0120710.7z
2) unpack it into new directory
3) create far.exe.ini (near far.exe)
Code: Select all
[General]
UseSystemProfiles=0
Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
It works (on the first PC, 2nd I will check at home)!
Thank You VERY much.
Where was the problem? Bug in previous (2761) build?

Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
I do not know.
Nothing was changed about shortcuts since 2671.
I suspect your configuration problem, but again do not know what exactly...
Your far configuration files was recreated from scratch in <new far directory>\Profile.
If you can send me your old configuration files (far.exe.ini, previous %FARPROFILE%\*.db %FARLOCALPROFILE%\*.db)
I'll try to figure out the cause...

Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
On the 2nd PC I made simplest solution: overwrote build 2761 with build 2764.
No "/p /m", no far.exe.ini... but it works ok!
Also - problem is resolved.
Thanks again!
BTW
Has FAR developers any plans to port it to Linux/Android?
There is Midnight Commander, but FAR is much better.

One does not simply port FAR Manager to *NIX.pawelg wrote:Has FAR developers any plans to port it to Linux/Android?

pawelg
1) You are right the was build 2761 problem... (still do not understand why)
2) Shortly - No, far is deep win32 api based application (however it is possible to run it under wine)

Re: Doesn't save folder shortcuts
This is exactly my "luck" - after several years I decided to move from 1.xx to newer generation,2useven10 wrote: 1) You are right the was build 2761 problem... (still do not understand why)
and I hit at once the buggy build
