FAR 2.0 b680 - network
Does anybody else experience the problem of long time FAR freeze if the current panel is a network path and network or remote computer is disconnected and I want to do some directory change on that path. It was one of many advantages of FAR against TC. I did not have enough patience to wait till the end, but it is over 30 seconds...
FAR 1.7x gets me into Drive change dialog in 6 seconds.

There are shortcuts to disconnect network drive, eject removable drives, disconnect devices, but I can not find anything about timeout of not responding network path.
The example: I change path to "\\server\share", walk thru remote directories, work some time on my computer in other applications, return to FAR, try to change current directory. And at this time, if the remote computer is not accessible (switched off/network problem/...) FAR 1.7x freeze about 6 seconds and then popup Drive menu, but FAR 2.0 freeze for much longer time - I've tried many keys, but there is no response thus I call this state "freeze". Do you experience the same behavior on your computer or there is the same time in FAR 1.7x and 2.0?

Other info: OS = Windows XP.
If I enter to command line of FAR:
cd \\server\share\
and the remote computer is not responding (switched off), the freeze is the same in FAR 1.7x and 2.0 - 1 min 35 sec.
Can be FAR improved in some way - the user can change the time out or so?
(FYI: The problem is not caused by DNS "ping server" immediately response with correct IP address and ping packet time out.)

I have another difference - if I enter command from history or at command line "cd \\ipaddress\share\" (existing server and share with sufficient rights) it tooks 26 seconds in FAR 2.0 b680 (the same in 732) to proceed the command and list remote directory and in FAR 1.71 there is no delay.
Does anyone else observer similar difference?

I had the same problem with version 2.0.
But in actual version (build 768) it is OK. Thanks.

But it does not matter, we are happy it is working now - at least for existing (running server with sufficient privileges) \\computer\share.

BTW: Trying to change current directory to non-existing share takes the same 21 seconds in 2.0b768 and 1.75b2479.

Issue 700 - there is wel described and fixed "bug" - thus existing \\server\share is no longer problem.
Non-existing (or switched off computer share) for example "CD \\1.1.1.1\1" command takes 60 second and shows system error message like "UNC paths are not supported" (in Czech on my Windows XP CZ, FAR 2.0b768:
C:\TEMP>cd \\1.1.1.1\1
\\1.1.1.1\1
Program CMD nepodporuje cesty UNC jako aktuální adresáře.
(The ip address from my LAN range, but not responding [switched off computer] behaves the same as 1.1.1.1.)
PS: 21 seconds on previous post was on other computer on small LAN with one router and one LAN IP range.

Imho delay depends from work network services, (f.ex. work service: computer browser, master browser..., caching network response) If network wrong set by admins delay be is big, in my case in network exist ~3 master browser (it's wrong imho).

Yes, the network configuration (HW) and whole system settings (services, caches, ...) affect the delay.
