I'd like to be able to change the name of a Service with the Service Manager Plugin. Pressing F4 on the service and selecting "More" will allow you to edit the "Display Name", but not the actual name which you use for executing "net start|stop" commands.
Is there a way to do it, if not I guess I should make a feature request to the author Serge Nozhenko.

Re: Ability to rename a service with the service manager plu
This plugin is very old and not supported by anyone. Consider using this one: http://forum.farmanager.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5146

windows API does not allow to perform this action

I should have realized this being I've used the SCM API calls and have a book on my desk that has a chapter on them.GrAnD wrote:windows API does not allow to perform this action
I wonder how terrible it would be just to rename the registry key for that operation. I know its not recommended, but I should test that out.

You can rename key in register of service.
for example [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\FARBCopy]
and reboot windows
