Latest post of the previous page:

Is there a way to configure arclite to use external programs to read/create other archive types (e.g. create .RAR)?
If not, is there a MultiArc version for FAR3?
If not, is there a arclite alternative for FAR3?
If not, then I guess FAR ("File and ARchive manager") should be renamed to "File and few not-really-popular-archive-formats manager"

I'm a years-long fan and daily user of FAR, but if FAR3 will be limited to arclite only, I'll stay with FAR2... I have quite many RAR archives (often modified), some ancient JAR stuff (from ARJ maker, the JAR has a fantastic 'chapter' feature not found in other archivers), some custom archiver used for storage in some funny system, etc. I cannot access some and I cannot modify any of them with arclite... facepalm2

MultiArc is still available. You can take latest version from Far 1.75 distribution archive.

chupakabra: I know, I use MultiArc with FAR2, the question is about FAR3: will MultiArc work seamlessly with it?

Andrey: I know my comment was a bit sarcastic... I like and use .7z format more and more myself. My "complaint" was about a limited number of formats that ArcLite supports compared to MultiArc. So how about "Files and just-a-few-archive-formats manager"? :) (still just joking)

I don't know the developers' plans and the plugin desing, but my humble suggestion would be to add support of other formats to ArcLite through external programs (and keep config in file similar to "custom.ini" of MultiArc). Maybe some portions of MultiArc code could be reused? Possible? Planned? Considered?

Look for NewArc in the rest of this forum.

Thanks, but I didn't like it. Now I run FAR2 and FAR3 in parallel, FAR3 mostly, and see if I can live with arclite. Maybe it is time to re-pack my old archives to .7z?...

There is a small cosmetic issue

There is a small cosmetic issue. When you unpack the 7zip Multi file the Far Manager v3.0 build 3367, only the first part shows the dialog box, the rest is not (part2, part3, etc. etc...). But the unzip is good!

I concur. I would be better if arclite could recognize and process ("Enter archive", "Extract", "Test") any part of the multi-tome archive, not just the header one.

Arclite: No option to abort test of selected archives?
Hi,
When select many archives files and press SHIFT+F3 (ArcCmd) to test archives, i can't abort de test operation. 'Esc' not work, the only way to abort
operation is closing FAR. Is this ok? Any other key to abort/quit the test operation?
Thanks!

arclite - 7-Zip backed plug-in for handling archives

Hi, I have a macro, where I start another copy of FAR with actual left and right panel path, or open archive. There's a problem with archives with spaces in the file name. See example:

Code: Select all

far.exe "c:\left path" arc:"c:\archive\right archive.zip"

Code: Select all

far.exe "c:\left path" arc:"c:\archive\rightarchive.zip"
The first example doesn't work, the second does.

But when I write it directly in command line

Code: Select all

 arc:"c:\archive\right archive.zip"
it works well.

Any solution?

KlepetoX, Actually far.exe "c:\left path" doesn't work.
So I think it is not arclite problem.

KlepetoX, you can use arc:"\"c:\archive\right archive.zip\""

Code: Select all

C:\0>far "C:\0\2 2"
2"" was unexpected at this time.
"C:\0\2 2" is directory

2useven10, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Far Manager\Far.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings" works as expected for me both in cmd and in Far (both by Enter and by ShiftEnter).
