Latest post of the previous page:

There are two related major bugs with NetBox and SFTP now, related to how NetBox handles broken connection:

1) If a connection breaks and I choose to abort, NetBox crashes and takes FAR (2.0 build 1807) with it. As far as I can tell, the crash is completely silent, event without an Event Log entry.

2] If a connection breaks and I choose to reconnect, NetBox reconnects correctly and tries to resume uploading the file. Unfortunately, it crashes soon after (with Access Violation), taking FAR with it - and to my dismay, it turns out it doesn't actually resume the upload (even though the progress indicator suggests it does) but deletes it and starts again (this is my 6 GB file we are talking about...).

If it is relevant, I am using a 32bit FAR on a 64bit Windows 7. Latest Netbox.

The crashes seem to have stopped with 2.0.13. I haven't dared to use the reconnect feature yet.

Thanks!

Btw., it could be very useful to have an option to automatically try reconnect after a certain time. E.g. something like:

Code: Select all

[x] Automatic reconnect after [ 10] seconds.
[x] But no more than [ 5] times.
And that separate "Resume" button would be great, too :-)

The reconnects do resume downloads most of the time, but I have just encountered a reconnect which started to upload the file from the beginning.

I guess that file was in subdirectory, no?

No. A regular file.

In fact, since I wrote that message, no other file resumed on automatic reconnect - they all got overwritten.

Hello, FAR build 2774, NetBox 2.1.6.130 - file attributes do not work. File attrib dialog shows nothing attribs and if I select any attrib, it is not written at all.

What protocol are you using? Changing file attributes implemented only for SCP and SFTP protocols, and you must have appropriate rights on remote system to do that.

I use plain FTP, so it is explained. I can't display and change attribs... I have to stay with standard FAR FTP plugin and WinSCP simultaneously. Thank you for the answer.

I can use FTPS with explicit FTP over TLS and it is the same. Next I have found that the latest version of WinSCP does the same, doesn't show rights (attribs) at all. While FileZilla and standard FAR plugin are ok and show/write attribs correctly :-(

Well, I was wrong and in fact plugin can show/change permissions using FTP protocol.
Maybe FTP server you connect to sends directory listing in some unusual format, which plugin cannot parse correctly.

For example, ftp.freebsd.org sends directory listing in such format:

drwxr-xr-x 2 967 100 3072 Dec 13 2011 xfce
drwxr-xr-x 2 967 100 1536 Dec 04 2011 zope

and plugin correctly shows permissions.

I tried older version 2.0.13.78 of NeBox - and everything is displayed and changed ok! So I stayed with this older version meantime...

I'm trying ftp.freebsd.org and everything is ok with older and new version of NetBox.

But for example, try ftp://82.117.143.105/ login: host pass: host

NetBox 2.0.13 is ok
NetBox 2.1.16 shows no attribs

Standard FTP plugin in FAR installation is always ok... - strange...

It'll be better if you just show what kind of directory listing this server produces.

ftp://82.117.143.105 lists files and dirs this way (quickly based on filezilla server for tests):

Code: Select all

-rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 4 Jul 25 14:55 info.txt
drwxr-xr-x 1 ftp ftp 0 Jul 25 14:56 test
ftp:ftp is owner

And for example another ftp server which doesn't show any attribs with new version of NetBox:

Code: Select all

drwxr-xr-x 20 18406 1001 4096 Jul 25 11:08 .

Most likely it is due to using MLSD/MLST for directory listing.
I made special test build
https://github.com/downloads/michaelluk ... 64_test.7z
You can try it and check if bug is fixed.
I cannot check this myself because I cannot reproduce this bug.
