Digital camera access?

Post by LigH »

Is there a plugin which is able to load files from a device which registers only as "Digital camera" in Windows (and calls e.g. the Windows Image Acquisition wizard, WIAACMGR), but not as removable drive?

Looks useful.

A pity it doesn't register in the "Drive select" menu.

Certainly. If a camera has a removable memory card, it is most reliable to remove it and read it via a card reader. The digital camera API is not able to reliably download videos from the camera to the PC.

You provided neither the camera model, nor the exact error message, nor any details how you connected the camera with the PC, and if you possibly had to configure your camera to accept connections to a PC at all ... hard to help.

As already stated, if possible, take the memory card out of the camera and put it into a card reader for your PC. If that is not possible because you want to read out internal camera memory, then you have to rely on the Microsoft "Windows Image Acquisition" (WIA) API if your camera manufacturer does not provide own transfer software.
