FAR Translation in English.

You want to talk about Far Manager, but don't know where to turn?

Latest post of the previous page:

I just wanted to prevent 2 of us doing the same work - it would be silly.
I could take Far Help patch and you - lng and plugins patches, is it OK for you?

On the other hand, it would be much better if this work was done by somebody knowing English on higher level (e.g. NightRoman).

There is some unconsistency with term "plugin": sometimes it's called "plug-in".
I think we should use one spelling, not both.

John Doe, in Russian translation it's much worse: sometimes "плагин", sometimes "подключаемый модуль".

It's bad.
Synonyms are welcomed in imaginative literature, but they are unacceptable in technical docs.
Spelling must be consistent, otherwise one can think that different words mean different things.

After looking at the patch more carefully I've discovered that most of 473 differences (many of them are multi-line ones) require additional editing.

Sorry, it's too much work for me. (I hoped that it's almost ready but it isn't, unfortunately).

If you tell me what kind of editing is required i could try and fix the files.
Btw, what are the rules regarding how long should text lines be ? i'm asking cause there doesn't seem to be a rule in the original files, some lines are longer than others.
Sorry for writing in English in the Russian forums, but i don't speak Russian and don't trust online translators. :D

I'm afraid it requires a person that can read Russian language.

Yes, unfortunately the quality of the automatic translation is very far from acceptable, every single line should be reviewed.

Well, from my point of view a "not perfect" translation is better than "no translation".
Anyways, i've tried to do my best to help, i don't think i can do more than that.

P.S. i'm not complaining or blaming anybody, so don't get me wrong, i'm just disappointed it didn't turn out as i hoped it would.
Anyways, maybe it would be better to leave the translations for someone who speaks both Russian and English, even then the translations would still need to be reviewed as one might translate things differently then somebody else.

keep file with the directory structure for:
local drives
network drives
network paths
removable drives
CD drives
Don't create the file for the following disks and paths:
path for local, removable and CD drives:
path for network drives and paths:

But you don't need to translate these lines. They are not used anywhere and related to the experimental functionality which is not included in Far yet and still may change dramatically.

just reported a bug on english help - not sure if you already have a translation for that, but it was from the nightly build version.

There are 996 lines in FarEng.hlf containing Russian text, unfortunately.
