7-Zip and encrypted archive headers

Hi! I am about to switch from encrypted archives to encrypted archives with encrypted headers (I want to upload my backups to an online storage and would prefer it if NO information leaked), but it seems FAR just won't work with that - it simply runs 7-zip to list archive contents and never gets the...

Re: Strange inconsistencies running FAR

ClearPluginsCache worked, as I am sure the FormatNumberSeparators would, but I am more concerned with the strange inconsistency that with fixing the display issues.

Strange inconsistencies running FAR

I have encountered strange inconsistencies when running FAR on my computer. I have three slightly different "instances" which behave differently: 1) FAR 1.71a4 (build 2348) stored in Y:\FAR, running under my regular user (limited access everywhere I could limit it). This FAR runs perfectly...

Re: Where are the settings for farmanager stored

Yes and yes*.

*) Limited to settings in HKEY_CURRENT_USER. In my configuration, only a few options are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: - MultiArc archiver paths
- Registration data
Everything else is in HKCU.

Re: Where are the settings for farmanager stored

It can, and you will even get your settings if you run RestoreSettings.bat first.

FTP Plugin

There is one functionality which I really like in ProxyKit (AKA Far Navigator) and which I can't find in the standard FTP plugin: ProxyKit has an extra "Default overwrite action", "Newer" - which basically means that depending on the file time of local and FTP file, the action wi...

Synchronize Directory (obsolete)

This plugin is just a modification of the standard Advanced Compare plugin. The differences, apart from my own bugs :-), are: - Progress bar during compare. Advanced Compare only displays the name of file which is being processed, which is rather less than useful for long files when "compare by...

Re: Controlling my editor

I should have added that one reason why I am not entirely comfortable with Colorer is that eventually I will want to control the editor anyway. For example, I would like to add some special shortcuts to modify the contents (e.g. make CTRL+Y delete a whole paragraph rather than a single line, or ente...

Controlling my editor

OK, I have a plugin here which, at one point of its OpenPlugin call, opens an editor with some report. I would like to provide custom coloring for this editor. What possible approaches can I take? I found two: 1) Use the Colorer plugin. This is probably a better approach because it uses a standard p...

Re: Very strange file read problem

Found more info:

It's a known bug in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913872
Considering that, I think it would be very nice if FAR could include the FILE_ATTR_NO_BUFFERING workaround for files >2 TB.

Re: Getting _recursive_ panel filelist

I have read that, but it only works with the active panel's plugin. I need the passive panel, too.

Re: Very strange file read problem

Found it: It is because of FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING - if it is present, the file can be read. Otherwise, it can't. I have no idea why and would appreciate any insight.

Could FAR include a workaround for this? Using FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING when opening files larger than 2 TB?

Very strange file read problem

I have a very strange problem with reading files from NAS here. I suppose it is a Windows issue rather than a FAR issue, but it does apply to FAR, too, as you'll see. I have a separate PC acting as network storage. It uses FreeNAS for operating system. I have added 4 TB of disk drives, shared that o...

Getting _recursive_ panel filelist

I need to read all files and directories in a panel and all of its subdirectories. Which is quite easy to do with regular panels (it's just a matter of reading CurDir from the Panel and then using that to recursively call GetDirList). I am not so sure how to do it with plugin-based panels. I expect ...
