Unicode text file problem in Far 2.0 861 x86

I've been using Far 2 to edit some Unicode text files but the latest nightly build and some older versions don't support these specific files any more. I assume the problem is that the text files don't have a BOM , if I open the text file in Notepad and resave it Far2 can read the file again, like I...

You could open the FarEng.hlf for English help (or FarRus.hlf for Russian) in the editor and search it has some control codes but should be readable.

senpost wrote:Is there a shortcut/hotkey to go pack to parent folder? In windows Explorer We have backspace, is there nay thing like this in FAR?
If you want to use backspace, there is a macro in your FAR directory Far\Addons\Macros\BS.reg

Re: How to search for files faster in FAR manager!

jonib , you need to open plugin panel, ensure that MFT index mode is selected (this is default), OK, MFT index mode is on. use Far built-in search (Alt+F7). Search over entire volume should take a couple of seconds. Trying to search in different ways it don't seem to be that much faster, do I need ...

You can use console alias:

Code: Select all

DOSKEY es=tmp:+full <es.exe $*
Now type in command prompt:
es <search_string>
I didn't get it to work, but I think I'm happy with Shift+Alt+F7 and typing in my search string with separate history, thanks anyway.

I've been meaning to test that plugin, and now I have, but I didn't find anything related to searching?

How to search for files faster in FAR manager!

2 years ago I was searching for a faster way to search from FAR manager and found 2 programs here is my post in the old forum. Now that a free program I discovered some time ago, has added a command line version that is usable in FAR manager, the search program is " Everything " I see that...

Re: Move to higher directory and a few other questions

1. How do you move up the directory hierachy with a single keystroke, like the Back button in Windows Explorer? I don't want to scroll all the way to the top. In the "Far\Addons\Macros" directory there is a "BS.reg" file that makes the backspace key move up to the parent directo...
