How to SSH?

Post by jdarias »

I know this may have been answered before, but i want to ask, is there any way to make Far work from a SSH connection?

I mean, i have a windows machine with freeSSHd installed and running in it. I log on the ssh server on this machine from a remote location, and if i invoke far manager i just get a black screen. Nothing happens.

Is this an intended behavior / not possible in windows, (just *nix) / not implemented yet?
Thank you!

AFAIK FAR does not support xterm commands.

If I got it right, jdarias wishes not to SSH from FAR (which can partially accomplished by the WinSCP plugin) but to run FAR in an SSH session.

I still correct. I meant that FAR uses WINAPI functions that are not xterm compatible. That is why you cannot use it within your SSH session.

I seem to have heard about running FAR in a terminal session to a Windows host though.

Cool, it works indeed. A lot of drawing artifacts (at least in my virtualbox) but works.

WOW! :Yahoo!:
This one is really good, especially if you use it with their SSH client.

:Yahoo!:
i tried with the latest freeSSHd and it worked!
maybe it was a bug in the ssh implementation. Sad thing is no mouse support yet like midnight commander. But at least it works!! Thanks!
