File names in East Asian locales (Chinese, Korean, etc)

Post by umbro »

Is it possible to make FAR display korean characters in filenames? Instead I can see only question marks a such files cannot be opened (file not found). Czech characterss are displayed correctly.

Thank you for any help.

What is the version of your Far? Only Far 2.x can do that and only if you have a proper console font (which has that characters). Does your console display these characters correctly? Open the cmd console and invoke the dir command, for example.

Version is 2.x. Problem is then in console font (Lucida Console) which doesn't include Korean characters. So I assume I need to find a font which has both Czech and Korean charset and replace original console font with it. Right?

That's right, basically. Note that my advice is pure common sense; I am not an expert in fonts in any way.

Perhaps it also makes sense for you to take a look at ConEmu. It emulates console but in fact it uses GUI where much more font issues can be resolved (in theory).

Charaters were not corretly displaying in both versions. File could not be opened in 1.x only. Version 2.x was OK.

Chinese supporting

Post by Christian »

Hi,
I have used FAR for several months to analyse virus, I think FAR is a very exellent tool, I really love it very much.
But for us, the OS language is Chinese, maybe the support of FAR is not very well. It can't dispaly the Chines.
So would you like to support Chinese?
That would be very good for Chinese analyst.
We really very appreciate that.
Thanks in advance!

1. Far 2.0
2. "Lucida Console" (or "Consolas") in the console window properties
3. try to use ConEmu
