Changing drive with Hotkey (ALT + F1) is terrible slow now
Changing drive with Hotkey (ALT + F1) is terrible slow now
Not sure what was changed on my Win7/64 system, but now when
changing drives with (ALT + F1) FARr waits/stalls for several seconds
before opening the Drive Panel...
Any idea what could have happened? I didn't change any hardware
but had some software updates but I can't find out when it happened
exactly.
The problem even now happens in older FAR 32/64 bit version,
not just the current one which is even worse...
Thank you for hints, I'm quite desperate...

It's just two plain columns, no detail view - and this hasn't changed.
My guess would be there some drive error that delays maybe
(but Explorer doesn't stumble). Is there a timeout value or
an error log for such things?

Ah, it seems my Bluray drive makes problems and FAR stops waiting for it,
I'll dig deeper into this... Thank you!
To make it a feature request: if a drive times out allow to stop this or
change the timeout value.

I'm also having the problem, Alt-F1 is slow like hell.
Process Monitor shows that a 10-second delay happens after DVD drive (W:) access, see after "CloseFile W: SUCCESS".
The info displayed in the menu was only a volume label. When I switch it off, the menu is fast again.

No disc there at all. No virtual drives, a fresh Windows 7 x64 copy. Far 3 b3000 x64.
Ctrl-8 does help, but come on.

Re: Changing drive with Hotkey (ALT + F1) is terrible slow n
I believe that may be related to the following feature (should it be optional???)
[+] The CD drive type can be shown in the disks menu instead of the
faceless "CD-ROM" type. FAR will attempt to determine the type of
each of the CD drives available in the system. Known types are as
follows: CD-ROM, CD-RW, CD-RW/DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM

It is optional. Press F9 in Disks menu.
