How to set up external editor, so it runs in a separate window

You want to talk about Far Manager, but don't know where to turn?

Hi,

What can we use in Editor settings, so that the Alt-F4 key will open the editor in a separate window, and Far Manager will still be accessible?

Currently, when the external editor opens, it overlays Far Manager. You can't focus back on Far Manager, until you exit from the editor.

If your external editor is a GUI one (Notepad, SciTE, etc.) there must not be a problem. I'm using SciTE.

What's the External editor command configured in your FAR settings currently? I assume you use a console application as the external editor. If that's the case, just prepend the command with cmd.exe /c start "Window Title Here" .

Hi Shmuel/HaRT,

I didn't have start in the settings. After injecting start, the editor opens in a separate window.

Thanks,
