Robust External Text Editor

You want to talk about Far Manager, but don't know where to turn?

Robust External Text Editor

This is the one that I'm using now.

http://semware.com/

The Windows version https://semware.com/files/tse-pro-insta ... p-4.43.zip contains both the Win GUI and Console executables. They're all free nowadays. The support group is here

https://groups.google.com/g/semware

I also like Personal Editor http://www.pe32.com/pe64 a lot, primarily because it has a VBScript interface. But because it's a commercial package, I can't freely copy it to the office desktops without managers getting nervous about licenses. However, as far as Text Mode editors go, it's a good app.

There's also HBEdit

http://www.kresin.ru/en/hbedit.html
https://github.com/alkresin/hbedit
which is really nice, but I've experienced at least 2 bugs that caused a crash. I haven't made a list of them, but will at some point.

BTW, TextAdept has console version (good for SSH for example), and overall is cool.
Open source, customizable, scriptable, free as piece of sh**, has a fan base, etc.

here is another funny editor, a serious attempt for editing eficiency:
EdSharp is a full featured text editor that is friendly, powerful, and open source.
https://github.com/EmpowermentZone/EdSharp/
same author similar style file manager:
File and directory manager optimized for keyboard and screen reader users
https://github.com/jamalmazrui/FileDir/
FileDir is buggy though, but it is opensourced (c#), and there are debuggers :)

i did not investigated it very deep, but both EdSharp and FileDir looks good.
