Windows 10 sallow colours
Hello!
I use FAR manager more than 10 years ago. I have version 3 x64 under Windows 10. Until this time, there was'nt problem, but from one day (maybe some windows update) the colours are not nice, like sallow or something.
I show you pic: Before there was like this: Can you help me, what can I do?
Szabi.

szellszabi, you might need to:
- Delete subkeys under
- Recreate shortcuts, if any.
- Delete subkeys under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console
with funny names like C:_Program Files_Far_Far.exe
, if any.- Recreate shortcuts, if any.

Different colors in Windows 10 when you run Far.exe directly
I have problems with Far 3 colors in Windows 10.
When I start it by running the shortcut from the Start Menu the colors look normal:
However when I run Far.exe directly, the colors look very different (much brighter):
I tried all possible properties of the window (Font/Layout/Colors) but couldn't fix this.
I use AutoHotkey and I have a hotkey to run Far, but now I need to point it to the .lnk file to get normal UI.
I was able to reproduce this on multiple systems, including cleanly installed Windows 10 VM.
Windows 10 x64 Version 1803
Far Manager v3.0 build 5300

Thanks, this works!
To save the temporary one (colortool.exe cmd-legacy) you just need to open the Properties dialog and click OK.
This way it will only affect Far and will not change the defaults.

Thanks a lot!
A little note: binaries "Color Tool April 2019" haven't worked for me (error "Could not find or load "cmd-legacy"").
BUT "Color Tool October 2018" did the job.

colortool.exe cmd-legacy.ini
works fine.

From ct help: "The name of a color scheme. ct will try to first load it as an .ini file color scheme If that fails, it will look for it as a .json file color scheme If that fails, it will look for it as an .itermcolors file color scheme."
So read forum but not app's help

Видимо считают что уже не нужен...
Хотя сорсы есть и в последней версии терминала, а последние исправления в начале января 2022.

All the solutions above imply modifying the system. I like to use FAR as a portable version and I would like to force the default(old) colors without having to alter anything externally to the program. One solution would seem to be to have a .lnk shortcut like the one the FAR installer creates, however, that will not work if one needs to start FAR from a command. As an example, adding it to the context menu for directories:
Is there no way to force the old palette through an ini setting or somehting in the local "Profile" directory? Should I make a feature request regarding this? Seems to me like this problem is very widespread, but people probably just deal with the lack of contrast in the "new" windows console color palette. I find the "yellow" for selected files particularly difficult to see.
Code: Select all
reg add "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Open with FAR Manager" /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /v "" /d "Open with FAR Manager" /f
reg add "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Open with FAR Manager" /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /v "Icon" /d "path\to\far\far.exe,0" /f
reg add "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Open with FAR Manager\command" /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /v "" /d "path\to\far\far.exe \"%%1\"" /f
